Mike at Night Summer Concert Schedule
It's once again time for a little hot fun in the summertime. The Doobie Brothers sing that "music is the doctor of my soul" and that is so often the case. Music brings people together like nothing else and there's going to be tons of great music and performances going on within driving distance of southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas this summer. In today's column, you'll find all the great performers that will be in Lincoln, Omaha, Council Bluffs, Iowa and Bonner Springs, Kansas. There's something here for everyone so get the love of your life or your best friend or friends in tow and go listen to the music.
LINCOLN AND OMAHA. The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash will be at the Zoo Bar In Lincoln on Friday, June 7th. The Fifth Dimension will be at Heartland of America Park in Omaha on Saturday, June 8th. Dr. Hook, along with Gary Lewis and the Playboys will be performing at the Omaha Civic Auditorium on Monday, June 10th. INXS will be at the Anchor Inn in Omaha on Sunday, June 16th. Rock Fest 2002 will occur in the same venue on Tuesday, the 25th featuring hard rockers Dokken, Firehouse, L.A. Guns, Ratt, and Warrant. On Friday, June 28th, Creedence Clearwater Revisited will be appearing at Memorial Park in Omaha. Meat Loaf will be at the Anchor Inn in Omaha on Tuesday, July 9th, and the biggest concert of the year will see The Eagles coming to Omaha on Sunday, July 14th at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Better get your tickets for that one soon. It will sell out quickly and the tickets aren't cheap. Quiet Riot will perform at Levi Carter Park in Omaha on Saturday, August 10th, and Journey will be at the same venue on Sunday, August 18th. The legendary Bob Dylan will appear at the Omaha Civic Auditorium on Wednesday, August 21st and the "Rock Never Stops" tour will be onstage at the Anchor Inn on Sunday, August 25th, featuring Skid Row, Tesla and Vince Neil. Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney will be appearing at the Nebraska State Fair in Lincoln with Keith there on Tuesday, August 27th and Chesney performing on Wednesday, August 28th. Poison will be on stage at the same venue on Friday, August 30th. COUNCIL BLUFF, IOWA AND BONNER SPRINGS, KANSAS Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth, both former lead singers for Van Halen, will be appearing together and the Sandstone Amphitheatre in Bonner Springs on Thursday, June 6th. On Sunday June 23rd, Bad Company and Foreigner will be at the same venue, followed by Chris Isaak and Natalie Merchant on Friday, the 28th, and Def Leppard on Saturday, the 29th. Martina McBride will perform at Ameristar Casino on Sunday, the 30th and the "Classic Rock All Stars" featuring Dennis Noda, Jerry Corbetta, Mike Piners and Pete Rivera of Rare Earth will be at Bluffs Run Casino on the same date. Brooks and Dunn, Chris Cagle, Cledus T. Judd, Dwight Yoakam, Gary Allan, and Trick Pony will all be performing at Sandstone Amphitheatre on Friday, July 121th. Deep Purple will appear at the same venue on Friday, July 19th, along with theScorpions. They will be followed on the 20th by Cinderella, Faster Pussycat, Poison and Winger. Foreigner will be at the Westfair Amphiththeatre on Sunday, July 21st, along with Audiovent, Dragpipe, Earshot, Filter, Gravity Kills, Mad at Gravity, Mushroomhead, Nonpoint, Reveille, and Sevendust. My favorite band, The Doobie Brothers, will be appearing at Harrah's in Council Bluffs on Saturday, July 27th. On Sunday, July 28th, another favorite of mine, John Mellencamp, will be at Sandstone Amphitheatre and, on the same night, James Ingram and Norman Brown will be at Westfair Amphitheatre in Council Bluffs. On Thursday, August 8th, Melissa Etheride, Meredith Brooks and Rosey will be at Sandstone, followed by Lenny Kravitz and Pink on Wednesday, August 14th. On the same night, B.B. King will be hosting the "B.B. King Blues Festival at the Westfair Amphitheatre in Council Bluffs featuring George Thorogood and The Destroyers, Joe Bonamassa, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. On Friday, August 16th, Jackson Brown and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will be at Sandstone, followed by "Ozzfest 2002" on Tuesday, the 20th. Neil Sedaka will be performing at Harrah's in Council Bluffs on Friday, August 30th. The "Rockin Roadhouse Tour" will be at Harrah's in Council Bluffs on Friday, September 6th, featuring Joe Diffie, Mark Chesnutt and Tracy Lawrence and Michael Bolton will be appearing at the Ameristar Casino on Sunday, September 9th.
