WHAT IS ALL THE FUSS ABOUT, SADDAM?

"I don't see what all the fuss is about with Saddam Hussein's latest complaint over United Nations weapons inspection. Saddam's remark that there are too many American and English inspectors on the team is a wonderful expression of the policy of racial quotas, diversity and multi-culturalism expressed by President Clinton, liberals and the educational establishment.

It seems that the United States is once again showing what an evil, oppressive and racist nation it is by imposing its will upon the government of Iraq. There should be an equal number of every national kindred and tongue on this committee. (Oops, I reverted to my evil European, Judeo-Christian heritage by using an insensitive biblical phrase. Forgive me! My intentions were to display empathy.) Saddam is being oppressed by the principles of a bunch of dead white guys, imposed by some white boy (Bubba) from the former Confederate State of Arkansas.

How dare we pass judgement on the Iraqi culture? If they want a totalitarian dictator who murders his opponents, invades his neighbors and secretly attempts to build weapons of mass destruction, then we should celebrate this diversity. There is no right or wrong way of doing anything. To believe in right or wrong, one must revert to the antiquated myths of Jewish and Christian religion. It is the United States that is the most oppressive nation in the history of the World. The Declaration of Independence; Constitution; Bill of Rights; Emancipation Proclamation; hundreds of thousands of lives given to end slavery, defeat fascism and communism; unequaled freedom, and prosperity are only myths.

Therefore, I applaud Saddam for being more politically correct than the President of the United States and the United Nations. It is time for President Clinton to feel Saddam's pain. He needs to call a big town meeting and go through some sensitivity training. This way, he too can appreciate and celebrate the diversity called for by Saddam Hussein in his latest effort to draw attention to the bias and bigotry shown by the United States.

Clearly, refusing to have a committee of weapons inspectors that doesn't give the rainbow panorama reflecting the ethnic makeup of the world causes a disparate impact on Saddam and Iraq. It especially causes interruptions in the workday of the secret weapons factory workers. They already have to hide in the closet because the rest of the world is intolerant of their activities. Instead of Iraq being forced to live with sanctions, the United States should pay reparations for its political incorrectness and all the pain and suffering caused during and since the Gulf War.

Wow! That was a really bad attack! You see, I occasionally suffer from Post Multi-Cultural Syndrome (PMS). This is what happens to a graduate of a teachers preparatory program who has to go through the brainwashing seminars where you are told that if you have white skin, you are a racist and bigot. America must be defined for its mistakes while other cultures are blindly portrayed as having equal or superior value. No disagreement is tolerated. To disagree, only proves you are a racist. Of course, you are likely a neo-Nazi as well. However, this accusation gives the few that refuse to totally submit to the multi-cultural mantra a small slice of ironic humor to survive the cult of political correctness.

The United States of America is the most prosperous and the freest nation in the history of mankind. The beliefs and values that caused America's greatness should be revered and taught to every child in this country. It is true that we have not always lived up to our ideals. However, it is those ideals that define slavery, racism or any other deviation from them as evil. The foundation for these ideas comes from the Jewish and Christian tradition, ancient Rome, Greece, England and Western Europe. That is the way it is, and there is an obscene perversion of the truth being perpetrated upon children in schools throughout this nation.

Sadly, this is the case in Nebraska as well. A few years ago, Governor Nelson and all but a couple members of the legislature looked out the window of the capital and bowed down to the building across the street, housing the Nebraska State Education Association. Then, they passed a statewide curriculum mandate to impose the false, balkanizing, multi-culture agenda on all our schools. To this day, they continue to spew the untrue mantra that local communities and parents control the schools. Just today, I heard a member of the state board of education talking about local control with the new "voluntary" academic standards. However, if a school doesn't comply, they will be stripped of their accreditation.

Thousands of men and woman have shed their blood to defend American values against greater despots than Saddam Hussein. Most of us would follow in their footsteps, if we were attacked from a foreign country. However, unless we are willing to stand up and fight for the same principles at home, we are in danger of destroying ourselves from within. We need to remember where we came from and why we have arrived at where we are.

A few years ago (before he passed from this world), the renowned historian of the origins of American thought, Russell Kirk, eloquently warned us against losing sight of our history and culture:

Lacking a knowledge of how we arrived where we stand today, lacking that deeper love of country which is nurtured by a knowledge of the past, lacking the apprehension that we all take part in a great historical continuity--why, a people so deprived will not dare much, sacrifice much, or take long views. With them, creature comforts will be everything; yet, historical consciousness wanting, in the long run they must lose their creature comforts too... Quite conceivably men and women uninterested in the soul may forfeit their own souls, and a people uninterested in their history may cease to have a history, or to remain a people.
