Sodbuster Date: 29 Aug 1997 Dear Editor, Here's a news item from Education Week: "A group of 100 Denver parents in early May (1997) filed a class action suit against the Denver Public school district and the Colorado state school board, charging that the public schools fail to teach even the most basic skills, particularly to poor and minority children. As well as calling for improved academic standards, better scores on standardized tests, public access to teacher evaluations, and more alternative schools such as charter schools, the suit also calls for the district to give grants to poor families to send their children to any public or private school."
