Maybe
-- when you can't find the homework you toiled
over last night, or you lost your house key,
again. But, what about the house that can send
you a message, when you're watching TV, and let
you know it's time to feed the dog? Well,
technology isn't there yet, but you'd be amazed
what your house could do with the right devices. Is one of your
chores feeding pets or watering plants? No
problem. You'll only have to feed Bruno once a
week, and never water plants again. It's possible
with an automatic pet feeder and a plant watering
system.
The only
thing you need to do with the plant system is
install some tubes into your plants and fill a
tank once a month.
And
Bruno? Just fill a special dish with his favorite
food every Monday; let the rest of the week take
care of itself. There is a dish on the market
that opens at the same time each day, giving
dinner to your dog or cat.
Computer
software that controls your home's heating,
lights, and security system has been around a
while. Now, your computer can be programmed to
"wake up," take a picture of an
intruder, then fax the photo to the police.
That's one smart house!
Imagine
being able to tell your house what to do. With a
little money and the right PC programming, you
can! Issue a voice command, and tell your house
when to turn lights on or off.
It would
be nice to have a Star Wars
droid -- like C3PO -- around to do all the chores
your parents assign. And, that may come -- maybe
by the time your kids have to take out the
garbage.
