Pre-Primary Campaigning
by Jennifer Crown

Candidates for various local and state political races have been working for the vote of the citizens.  Come Tuesday, May 12th, we will see how their efforts are rewarded.  Sodbuster encourages all to show good citizenship and vote.

Lots of yard signs seen in the area:

Some candidates are even going door-to-door to meet the voters in person.  Roger Berry (44th Legislative District candidate), Jodi Thompson (Chase County Commissioner District 2 candidate), and Steven D. Smith (44th Legislative District candidate) are among those visiting the voters directly.

Above, Steven D. Smith waits for a response at a Cambridge home.  When asked why he is the only one of the 44th Legislative District candidates not to have yard signs before the primary, Mr. Smith replied:  "They don't tell the voter anything about the candidate.  They are for name recognition only.  That is why I wrote 40 newspaper articles about my position on various issues.  That's why I am going door-to-door.  People can get to know me that way."

To all candidates for all races, best wishes.  May the best person for the job be elected.
